Heading to Speak at The Meta Center, NYC!

Happy Thursday!

So last month I hosted The Wellness Weekend, which went extremely well. This was my first large-scale event, so I was nervous about it. With the support and love of my fellow speakers, family, friends and of course, my boyfriend, I was able to calm down, trust in the process, and enjoy the exhilarating experience! Yes, there were a few little bumps along the road, but overall the event was a success. I can't express the amount of healing and inspirational work that was done. I'm really proud of myself with putting the event together and inspiring our healing circle to take our gifts to the next level.

As soon as the event wrapped, our guests came up to us thanking us for the healing and asking what was next on our agenda. Personally, I thought I would be taking a short break from event planning to focus on working with my one-on-one clients  and my Healthy Inspiration Group but Blanca Beyar wanted to keep our foursome fire ignited (and I'm glad she did!)  We secured a deal with an incredible spirituality venue  The Meta Center to take our show on the road to N.Y.C.!!! I've attended workshops at the Meta in the past and the energy there is AMAZING. I absolutely love the calming ambiance, the relaxing aromatherapy and soothing sounds that radiate from their space. It has been intentionally created to physically, aesthetically, and energetically promote the feeling of a pure, safe, “sacred home”.

So I wanted to personally invite you to our next event, where we'll discuss four timely topics that will enhance your life!

Being A Pillar of Light

On The Fence?

Happy Friday, loves!

Are you on the fence about your next steps? Not sure if you are ready to change your life for the better? Do you feel overwhelmed by indecision? Do you constantly dwell in possibility but never take action? I know I did. I still catch myself doing this.

 I totally get it.

I was in a similar position last year. I decided to listen to my intuition and leave Medical School in pursuit of my dreams of becoming something more "me" -- even if I didn't know exactly what that looked like at the time. I was terrified, I felt stuck, I worried about what people would think and I didn't want disappointed my family, friends, mentors, teachers and you know...myself. I was on scholarship and going to be the first Doctor in my family, it was a real "high" until I realized I was doing it for other's approval. Then I made an executive decision to get some help.

I sought out and hired a professional Life Coach to help me sort through the situation, get some clarity, and get out of the ugly funk I was in.  Working on myself, removing obstacles and acknowledging fears wasn't a walk in the park. I'm a very introspective person by nature, so the self-reflection part came very naturally to me. However, being honest about my relationships and re-evaluating my career aspirations was a bit of a struggle for me. In the end, the time I spent with my coach was valuable beyond words. I went into the process with my whole heart and never looked back. We were in it together and I didn't feel alone in my decision. Having a partner made it so much easier to stay accountable, see my progress, and it was SO much more fun than just reading a self-help book. Note: I'm all about reading self-help books and seeing motivational speakers; in fact, I aspire to be an Author and secure amazing Speaking engagements. But at that crucial time in my life, I needed a real-life cheerleader, a partner to propel me into forward-moving action, a spark of light to fire me up! And that's exactly what I got.

Fast-forward four months. I was so inspired by coaching that I chose to become one. I enrolled in the same coaching school she attended because I knew she was trained well by World Coach Institute. I met twelve amazing women in the course and together we became Certified Coaches! And as it turns out, I did really well in the course: 99% overall grade. Yep, I'm a proud nerd. ;) Regardless of what letters follow my name or how much academic/professional success I achieve, I just want to be happy and feel fulfilled. I will always put my heart and soul into every single thing I do. I am still learning and growing, so I'm on the journey, too. I'm 25 years old and I still have a whole life ahead of time. The only thing I know for sure is that I'm ever-evolving and I love that.

So, WHO are you?
What do YOU want in life?
What's holding you back from diving right into your dreams?

As your Coach, I can help you hop over YOUR fence. I'll be your partner through the next steps on your journey to getting exactly what you want out of life, whether that's improved physical health, emotional well-being, more happiness, or choosing to boldly pursue that "far off dream" to {enter your ultimate bucket list item here!}  And if you're on the fence about coaching, give me a call! I am happy to offer you a Complimentary Clarity Session which is completely free, zero expectation, and no pressure! I've designed these calls to give you a space to ASK any questions you have about the coaching process, fees, scheduling, and the Summer Special. You'll get a better feel for coaching and see if you are “ready” to work one-on-one. Sound good? Then shoot me an email Info@SheLivesInspired.com to schedule your session! And if you're not quite ready, it's okay! I'm always here for you.

See you next Sunday at The Wellness Weekend!

Why We Need To Unplug and Go Outside this Spring!

The other day I read a thought-provoking article in the April issue of Women’s Health Magazine about Vitamin N deficiency. Vitamin N? What’s that? You see, I am a health and wellness nut; I was a med student; I taught nutrition at an obesity clinic; and this year I became a certified wellness coach. This begs me to ask the question 'why didn’t I learn about this in nutrition class?' I was instantly inspired to learn more about this “supplement” and what it could do for my clients’ and my health.

I am well-versed on the importance of micronutrients, such as fat-soluble A, D, E, K and water-soluble vitamins B’s and C. The term 'Vitamin N' completely intrigued and perplexed me. I had to dig deeper and find out more. What I unearthed was eye-opening. With the advent of technology and living a more desk-bound lifestyle, human culture has become increasingly more sedentary. In my senior thesis, I actually looked at the behavior of obese children and the impact of inactivity on their health. Much of their obesity was attributed to their lifestyle choices: Playing video games, surfing the Internet, social networking, watching movies/TV, doing homework on the computer, etc. I have seen similar parallels in my peers and colleagues who spend the bulk of their day on the computer typing up expense reports, press releases, organizing their calendar, emailing, and/or tweeting from a desk. Being in a seated position staring at a blue screen for eight to ten hours per day would leave anyone feeling unwell. We are not sleeping adequately, eating properly, or taking time to get fresh air—which makes us feel cranky, achy, and uninspired.

Dr. Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods and The Nature Principle, and co-founder of the Children & Nature Network described this behavior as “Nature Deficit Disorder.” Some doctors now recognize this as a vitamin deficiency and treat it by writing prescriptions for Vitamin N. Patients are literally receiving doctor’s orders to go outside and spend time in nature.

The past few days here in N.Y.C. have been absolutely gorgeous and the weather has me in a better mood. I have been spending my lunch break walking four miles everyday. I am so excited to spend some time playing in the sunshine, just like I did as a child. Growing up as a city kid, I've been exposed to pollution, smog, the aroma of the Staten Island dump, poor air quality, cigarette smoke, traffic jams, etc. I'm not here to complain, I'm here to bring to light something that us city slickers are lacking: Exposure to nature. Personally, I’m always craving the freedom to spend time outside, surrounded by trees, breathing fresh air, walking on grass, and feeling the wind across my face. Have you?

Dr. Louv gives 10 reasons why children + adults need more Vitamin N:

1) The more high-tech our lives become, the more nature we need.

2) Humans are hard-wired to love and need exposure to the natural world.

3) We suffer when we withdraw from nature.

4) Nature brings our senses alive.

5) Individuals and businesses can become nature smart.

6) Nature heals.

7) Nature can reduce depression and improve psychological well-being.

8) Nature builds community bonds.

9) Nature bonds families and friends.

10) The future is at stake.

This is why I have always taken my niece, nephew, and the kids I've cared for to the park—because it’s good for them and good for me, too!  We get our daily dose of Vitamin D from the sunshine, our hands deep in the dirt for healthy bacteria and boosting our immunity, and giving our lungs the chance to be oxygenated with fresh, crisp, smoke-free air. This spring, I hope you, too, will take a walk outside and spend more time in nature. You deserve to feel well and like I I said in my previous blog post, I’m determined to help get you outside on May 26th!

My first time attending the NYC IGNITE tour!

Oh, hello!

So I'm writing this blog WAY later than I planned. Last month I attended a 2-day conference, which left me feeling spiritually inspired but physically drained. Friday night marked the official finish to the first week at my new corporate job. So the thought of waking up at 6am on a Saturday for a long day with no guarantee of a good meal didn't feel appealing.  (See I can be a little negative sometimes...I'm not perfectly positive all the time!) But I wanted to go, I was counting down for the past 3 months since I purchased my ticket. I mean, the thought of seeing Wayne Dyer, Gabby Bernstein, and Louise Hay...now THAT got me out of the bed in the morning.  So I woke up, dressed up, packed up and I was ready to go...up. Well, actually it's down because I live in a building....but it flowed so much more nicely with "up." Mom accompanied me and we were picked up by our dear friends, Blanca and Steve.

Me & my Mom

Steve & Blanca Beyar
I did a lot of thinking on the car ride to the conference. Between working Full-Time, starting my private coaching practice on the side, finishing my certification program, and you know life stuff (Family fun, Laundry doom, food shopping, time for self-care...interesting how this falls last on the priority list, huh? Sound familiar?)-- I couldn't help but think...do I find time for FUN!?  Well, I guess it depends on my definition of fun. To me, attending a conference is enjoyable, I don't think of it as work. I get to meet amazing new people, listen to my mentors, and do something different and uplifting. I'm not sure how many of my peers can relate to this...I'm sure they would much rather spend their weekend in Atlantic City and live it up. Well I decided to live it up by going to the Jacob Javits Center to hangout with women (and some men) that I can more deeply relate to: Personal Development Junkies.  The IGNITE: I Can Do It 2013 NYC event hosted by HayHouse featured 3,000 guests and neary 30 speakers! Thank God I had  the night off on Valentine's Day and the day off for President's Day-- or else this weekend wouldn't have worked for me. Seriously. I would still be glued to the folding chair holding my $10 latte (not a fan of inflated event pricing..but I get it). wondering what day of the week it was! LOL. In an effort to rest and renew, I decided that I would wait a few days to blog about my experience at I CAN DO IT NYC 2013. I have to say it was a great decision: it not only held the space for the creative juices to marinate but it also gave me some breathing room to it helped me put the whole event into perspective.

Our Crew: Me, Mom, Steve, Blanca

Here was the lineup of speakers at the NYC Ignite:
WAYNE WAS MY FAVORITE SPEAKER! Probably because we have all of his books on our coffee table at home. I grew up reading his work, and always wondered what it would be like to see him speak. Well, let me tell you, it was AMAZING. I cried. If you don't already know about Wayne, let's get you acquainted. Wayne is an internationally renowned author and speaker in the field of self-development. He's the author of over 30 books, has created many audio programs and videos, and has appeared on thousands of television and radio shows. Wayne is affectionately called the “father of motivation” by his fans. Despite his traumatic childhood spent in foster homes, Dr. Dyer has overcome many obstacles to make his dreams come true. Today he spends much of his time showing others how to do the same. When he's not traveling the world delivering his uplifting message, Wayne writes from his home in Maui.
Purchase of the Day: Wayne Dyer's "I AM Wishes Fulfilled Meditation CD"

Angel Therapist, Doreen Virtue
Doreen Virtue and her hubby taped her Oracle Card workshop LIVE during her presentation. It was surreal and awesome, check it out the VIDEO

Miracle Maven, Gabrielle Bernstein
Published Author and Speaker Gabrielle Bernstein talked about how to become open, ready, and willing to experiencing miracles in life and how A Course in Miracles changed her life, quoting the text:  "A miracle is a shift in perception from fear to love."
NDE Survivor, Anita Moorjani
In April 2002 Anita Moorjani  was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and after nearly 4 years of battling the disease, she was taken to the intensive care unit of her local hospital in February 2006 where she was given less than 36 hours to live. Her remarkable near death experience (NDE) and miraculous recovery from cancer has created enormous interest and commentary on an international scale. The NDE tremendously changed her outlook on life. She works on the premise that our inner world (consciousness) is our primary reality, and if our internal state is healthy and strong, then our external world will align itself and fall into place as a result.
Crazy Sexy Cancer Thriver,  Kris Carr
Kris was the last speaker on Saturday. I definitely she was the BEST way to end the night. I just love how animated she is when she speaks, and how she can make jokes about having a very serious disease. She led an amazing discussion about PREVENTION and how she became the CEO of her health. She focused on using food to heal our body and prevent  disease. We celebrated her 10 year anniversary of THRIVING with cancer- CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR WELLNESS!

Agapi Stassinopoulos

Agapi was so amazing live!!! She made us dance like we were in Greece at an epic party with lots of wine and feta cheese! Deepak describes her best: "Agapi is an authentic, genuine and inspirational speaker who knows how to connect with and move her audience. She brings out the beauty, power and independence of the Greek Gods and Goddesses and the archetypes in
all of us.” - Deepak Chopra, author of Path to Love, The Chopra Center for Well Being

The legendary Louise Hay and Cheryl Richardson.
Louise Hay is a pioneer in the field of Self-Help, which is now commonly referred to as Personal Development. Louise was joined on stage during her 1.5 hour talk with Personal Coaching Pioneer and Best-Selling Author, Cheryl. These ladies were MAGICAL on stage together...so funny, candid, loving and truly authentic!
It was an amazing weekend and I even made a new friend named, Kelly. It's so nice to meet someone who is interested in personal development and gets excited by the same topics as I do!

And I have great news! If you weren't able to come last month, you still have a chance to get your tickets! Hay House IGNITE is touring all over the country. And on Oct 26-27th, they'll be back to New York
